Greetings from the Executive Director
To say that 2020 has been unusual would certainly be an understatement. We have and will continue to experience something that almost none of us have ever had to go through before. However, during this pandemic, the COVID-19 virus has shown just how resilient we all can be when we must face challenges such as this. That resilience could not have been shown better than from our staff at The Arc Mid-Hudson. Especially our Direct Support Professionals who have put their lives and their families health on the line for the people they support. I cannot express to you how proud we are of our Direct Support staff. They have proven once again their professionalism and have demonstrated their love and commitment to the people in our programs.
As the Executive Director of this organization, I’ve had the privilege of watching us all come together. Transportation, Maintenance, Administration, Clinical Supports, Education and Supported Employment have all continued to work together and support one another during this stressful time. We are all interdependent on one another and during this crisis we have come together as one agency with a determination that the supports we provide will continue, no matter what.
We also want to thank the community and businesses who have donated money and personal protective equipment to our COVID-19 Relief Fund. Our community has once again stepped up and supported us and our staff during this crisis. We are also calling on everyone to become a “supporter” of The Arc Mid-Hudson and join us in supporting people with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. click on the membership link to become a supporter of The Arc Mid-Hudson. We need your help now more than ever. Because of anticipated New York State budget cuts, we expect that our reimbursement funding will be reduced. Your financial support will help us sustain the financial duress so that we can come through this as a strong and vibrant organization. Thank you for being a supporter of The Arc Mid-Hudson. On behalf of all of us here at The Arc Mid-Hudson, we hope you and your families are safe and healthy. Remember…We are “Stronger Together!”
John McHugh, Executive Director
